Best season for climbing
Winter (June to August) is certainly the best time to climb here, but climbing is possible year round. The winter months are a wonderful time to be climbing. Winter tends to produce long periods of stable, cool and dry conditions.

Can I still climb if it's hot?

Climbing in the summer months (December to March) is possible and even enjoyable on most parts of the mountains as long as you get a very early start and climb while it is still shady. Don't get trapped on the black slabs of Tibro and Beerwah in full summer sun as you'll be liable to burst into flame!

Good summer options
• Slider Wall on Mt Tibrogargan is shady and generally breezy nearly all day in summer. We've noted that early morning is not a good Slider option in high summer; sleep in and climb from about 11am instead.
• The Summit Cave on Mt Tibrogargan offers some great afternoon sport climbing in summer, mostly in the higher grades.
• Celestial Wall on Mt Tibrogargan goes into shade at around 11am in summer. Enjoy a shady afternoon of multipitch sport climbing here.
• If you top out one of the Celestial Wall routes, check out the routes on Halfway House. All shady. In fact, Halfway House is generally the coolest (temperature-wise) climbing on Tibro.
• Climb at Mt Ngungun early in the morning and be prepared to escape when the sun hits.
• The cave on Mt Coolum (50 minutes north of the Glasshouses) offers all day shade and hard sport climbing.
• Drive out to Woorim on Bribie Island (25 minutes) and go for a swim at the beach instead!

Rain
In addition to being hot, the summer months are also the wettest months of the year. The slabs at the base of Tibro and Beerwah can remain wet for days after heavy rain due to run-off from the upper sections. If you wish, you can check out the current radar loop for the Glasshouses. The Glasshouses are located in the NE quadrant of the image.
