I have only been out to Frog a few times but I feel that the anchors are a good idea. I have seen the damage that ropes do to trees and I trust that Darrin has enough experience to decide when anchors are needed to protect trees as compared to just placing them at the top of every climb for convenience (some people would probably disagree, but you have to trust people sometimes especially when you are starting out lead climbing). I cannot see the sense in removing the chains as this not only causes the damage to trees to continue but could put peoples lives at risk. If climbers expect to find a chain to rap off they may not carry any other gear to get down (sport climbers mentality). The two arguments against chains at the top off climbs I can think of are: 1. Enables inexperienced (I probably fit into this category, but I always think before heading up a climb) to just climb without knowing how set up safe rap stations or self rescue techniques. 2. Some people may use them for top roping. I feel that no top roping should not be carried out at Frog unless it is for training people to lead climb, use natural pro or other courses. I don't know the full story behind the fall on Pommy Bastard at K.P., but some climbers said two bolts had been removed. We don't need any other climbers to fall because gear has been needlessly removed. If you make up a petition can you please include the names TB and JL. Thankyou, TB
