Stemming from the recent popularity of the Queensland Climbing Discussion List, I decided I would create a small electronic magazine (e'zine) with regard to climbing the various rocks in Queensland. I believe many in the Queensland climbing community have become fairly fed-up with the standard of Rock Magazine, and while this publication makes no attempt to be as comprehensive as Rock, hopefully it might go some way to addressing the needs of Queensland climbers by providing a list of new routes in every issue, as well as fresh photos and info. Rough and new, as opposed to polished and stale. So, what will qurank contain? A smattering of news, a few (hopefully) high-quality photos, a few specialty columns like "Featured Route" and "Gear Talk" as well as a main article and a compilation of new routes. Suggestions for other sections most welcome! qurank will be published onto the web on the first day of every second month, to keep the information and inspiration flowing. Those who don't have web access can receive a zip file from me via email. Contact me if this is what you require. |
As an aside, please keep in mind I had less than a week to devise and construct this issue from scratch, so it's fair to assume qurank will be a lot better when we have two months between issues - and that's the goal! The last thing I want to contract is Baxter syndrome where the 'zine becomes my personal mouthpiece. I am really after as many contributions as possible. qurank will only be as good as we make it, so contribute anything and everything to me - especially stories and trip reports, scanned photos, and new route descriptions which you can submit by using this form. In addition, feedback and letters are great, and I'll publish them too if you wish.I can almost guarantee that anything you contribute, I'll publish - so get quracking and I hope you enjoy this, the founding issue of qurank.
